Dear Readers,
Since I have moved home one of my goals was to read more. However, over the last five weeks I have been so busy with Phd, funding, and job applications I have yet to succeed. I have only managed to read half a book… and a few journal articles for my Phd applications! I was thinking that if I write about a few of the books I am planning to read, it might hold me accountable to actually reading them. SO lets see how this goes!!
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Anne Shaffer. After falling in love with the film I knew I had to read the novel. I am about half way done at the moment and I adore it. It is actually the first book my friends from Glasgow chose to read for our International Book Club! We decided to start a bookclub in order to make sure we speak all together at least once a month!
Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell. My friend Chloe (From Quarter Life Chloe) read it this summer and raved about it. I had forgotten about the book until my grandmother recently asked me I had read it, her bookclub had just read it! So it is up next on my list.
The Creative City of Saint John Edited by Gwendolyn Davies, Peter Larocque & Christl Verduyn. I attended the book launch for this book at the New Brunswick Museum this past week and I can’t wait to read it. It is a combination of different chapters by a variety of writers all with different topics about Saint John!
Wish me luck on getting these books read this month!! What are your recommendations for books I should read next?!
