Glerups

Dear Readers,

I figured on this lovely snow day I would share one of my new favourite items to wear in the winter, my new Glerups Slipper Boot! Personally, I had never heard of the brand before I started working at The Urban Shoe Myth here in Saint John! They were such a popular Christmas gift and soooooooo many customers were raving about them. Evidently I could not help myself, I grabbed a pair for my Mom for Christmas and also picked up a pair for myself, and I am definitely sold on the product.

Glerups are from a company in Denmark, and obviously I was sold on a Scandinavian product. The company started out as a hobby by Nanny Glerup in 1993 as she used the wool from her sheep on Gotland to make slippers for her family and friends. The company produces a variety of wool slippers. There is the traditional slipper style, a shoe style, and the boot (which is what I have). All versions of the slippers have to different style for the sole, either felt or rubber (I have the felt bottom, and my Mom has the rubber bottom).

The wool slippers are sooo soft and cozy, and even just after a few wears the wool stretched to mould to my feet. Since moving home and into my parents “new” house, I have definitely noticed that we live in an 114 year old house… and I needed a new pair of slippers to keep my feet warm during the cold winter months. There is nothing worse than stepping out of bed onto a cold floor in the morning!!

One of the amazing things about these slipper is that the woollen fibres are actually waterproof and sweat proof, the woollen fibres self clean themselves.

Alongside oversized sweaters, leggings and a cozy blanket you will be able to find these Glerups on my feet alllll winter. If you are also interested in getting a pair check out the Urban Shoe Myth, or the Glerups website!
