I had a great little weekend getaway this past weekend!!! For my friend Madison’s Birthday we rented an AirBnB in Hatfield Point. One of the best things about living in the Maritimes is how easy it is to get out of the city. I got off work at 7pm, went home, stopped at the liquor store, grocery store AND was at the cottage by 8:30pm Friday evening.
The AirBnB we stayed at was great, there were about twenty girls so this large house was perfect. This AirBnB use to be an Inn called the Peasant-View and it was established in the 1790s. It is a three story building with an attic and is just filled with bedrooms, I imagine it is what a sorority house kind of feels like!
The interior of the house was quite charming, it was filled with artwork, paisley print carpets, and floral chairs. A very rustic country style. The night we arrived it felt like the house just kept on going as we explored throughout the old inn. My bedroom for the weekend was a quaint little room with a bunkbed that Chrissy and I shared.
Saturday was lovely and we spent the day lounging around the house, and beach across the road. We had the entire beach to ourselves, including a small dock and row boat. It was the first time I had been in the river since 2017… it was a little challenging to get it at first but the water felt great once I finally managed to get in!!
We spent Saturday evening just playing games like Cards Against Humanity and Heads Up. I always forget how much fun games are. We started around 8:00pm and continued on well into the early hours of the morning!
One of the funniest details of the weekend was the amount of food we brought. Our fridge was bursting open, the counters were covered, coolers were filled with drinks and we had an entire chair dedicated to chips (if you follow me on Instagram I am sure you noticed my Insta story). This resulted in us all feeling fuller than ever when we left Sunday morning!
Despite being a really cute and old-fashion styled home… there were a few creepier details around the house… There were a few moments where we thought our weekend might turn into a Stephen King movie 😬 But hey, it all adds to the fun!
This weekend made me realize how great it is just to take little trips a short distance from home. The Maritimes are such a BEAUTIFUL area and no matter what province or city you are in there is always places close by that you can explore.
For those of you from the Maritimes, where are some of your favourite weekend getaway locations?!
P.S. I HOPE YOU HAD THE BEST BIRTHDAY MADISON!!!
