Summer Sailing

Dear Readers,

This summer I decided to take an adult sailing class at RKYC with my friend Chrissy every Tuesday night all summer. It was an excellent program, and I would definitely like to do it again next summer! I had sailed for a couple of summers when I was in highschool, however I was not crazy about it at the time, to be honest it always frightened, so I decided I wanted to conqor that fear and try sailing again! I am so happy that I did. The instructors were great, and it made for an extremely enjoyable week night activity this summer.

We sailed 420 boats which is a training and racing style of a boat. It was the same style that I had learned on when I was younger too! Can you spot which boat Chirssy and I are on below???

The week I finished sailing, my friend Stephen and I went out sailing. Stephen has his own boat that he purchased last year, and this was my first time going out on his boat. During my sailing classes, we actually had two lessons out on keil boats so I did know how to help sail it. Stephen even let me have a turn being the skipper on his boat!

We had such a great morning out on the water, we went out around 10:00am until about 2:00pm. New Brunswick has so many beautiful parts but the Saint John River is definitely in the top ten for prettiest places in the province. We sailed down to GrandBay and back. The winds were pretty low at first so we were slowly moving along, but on the return the wind picked up more.

Stephen and I stopped at the Zesty Lemon before we headed down to the yacht club for lunch. The Zesty Lemon is this great deli in Millidgeville. I had the chicken club on rye for lunch, which made for the perfect sailing lunch.

Topped off with a Guiness of course!!! Stephen knows me well to have Guiness on hand😜

Adult learn to sail really added to my summer this year! It was just so nice going out on the river for a few hours after work and being able to relax and learn something new. Plus, I will be able to continue sailing now for as long as I would like, who knows, maybe I will even buy a boat in the future!
