While I was down in Niagara on the Lake with my mom and grandmother we visited one vineyard. The vineyard we decided to go to was the new Wayne Gretzky Estates. Out of the 88 vineyards we choose Gretzky’s since we had already picked up a bottle of his rose while we were in town earlier in the week and it was delicious!!! I finished the bottle I brought home last weekend with my friends 🥂
Arriving at the estate we headed straight to the wine section. The estate is divided up with a whiskey distillery on one side, the wine on the other and in the middle of the estate is a big pool which turns into a skating rink in the winter. Since Gretzky’s has a vineyard, distillery and craft beer, so there is something for everyone!
“Amazing things happen when The Great One turns his attention away from the ice. Delicious, approachable wines created from the finest Niagara and Okanagan grapes. Innovative Canadian whiskies, spirits and beer that are changing the game. Whether enjoying a bottle at home or visiting our Niagara-on-the-Lake property, Wayne Gretzky Estates Winery, Distillery & Brewery offers you an opportunity to experience a whole new side of The Great One.”
First of all we did a wine testing, where we tried four wines: a Pinot Grigio, a chardonnay, a merlot, and a pinot noir. All four were excellent! The bar was filled with Gretzky swag, a total shrine for Gretzky, so any hockey lover with would be a fan of this vineyard.
After we tried the wine, we ventured over to the other side to check out the whiskey. I was the only one who tried some (I guess it’s the Scottish in me 😛). I had a glass of the Ice Cask Whiskey, “This beautifully bronzed whisky has an elegantly icy side that makes it a true Canadian original.“ Which was also excellent!!
Well, now I have tried 1/88 vineyards in Niagara on the Lake, so I only have 87 more to visit! We had such a great time visiting our family in the Niagara on the Lake and all the wine we brought home was an added bonus!!! Can’t wait for our next trip down.
